Sermon: God's Answer to Sorrow is Joy
Frankly- this was an absolutely insane and amazing weekend that I am still recovering from! Our Christmas Cantata was this weekend and the last round of it was at 11am this morning, so I had to sing and then sprint, yes literally sprint in my heels (I have witnesses... unfortunately) and slide into Collision to begin worship.
Continuing with our series, "Answers" we talked this morning about God's offer to us of Joy. Jason did a great job of walking through the story of Lazarus. The point that is sticking with me from this week is when Martha comes to Jesus and says, "if only..." How many times and in how many ways do I throw up my "if only's?" Sometimes they are directed at God, but many times they are directed at myself. Instead, I am challenged to believe that God is who he says he is and that I don't need to waste my energy on things I cannot and should not change. By letting God be God I think it makes joy more accessible.
